James Ellison is confident his JG Speedfit Kawasaki squad will be in its strongest ever form going into an MCE British Superbike season as it gets a substantial pre-season testing programme underway in Jerez.

The BSB race winner will be joined by new team-mates Leon Haslam and Peter Hickman in Spain for the team's initial two-day test at Jerez alongside a number of World Superbike squads, including the factory Kawasaki outfit.

With ten days of on-track action lined up before the traditional Donington Park test, Ellison and company are set to enjoy its highest amount of pre-season running in order to turn the new Kawasaki ZX-10R into a race-winning package.

Ellison says he's buzzing with anticipation for the task ahead having tasted the 'hybrid' version of the new ZX-10R in post-season tests in Spain last November.

"Put simply, I can't wait," Ellison said. "We had a really good test in November on what was a fairly stock version of the bike, so I'm excited to try the full Superbike."

Ellison also says his team full understands the scale of the task ahead of them to turn a new machine into a race-winner and is certain it has the key personnel and support to be ready for BSB round one on the 8-10 April.

12 months ago former BSB squad Milwaukee Yamaha had a similar job to turn the new YZF-R1 into a winner and despite not securing the top step of the rostrum until round six Josh Brookes went on to totally dominate and duly clinch a first BSB championship.

"Obviously we're still working and learning on various aspects of the bike, such as the Showa suspension, but with more testing planned than we've ever had before I know we're going to be in a great position come Silverstone. This year is looking incredibly strong, so we're under no illusions as to what it will take to win."

The Jerez test kicks off an intense week as the JG Speedfit Kawasaki squad travels to Aragon for a second two-day stint on the 3-4 February. The team will then return home before two further three-day tests at Cartagena and Guadix in March.
