Christian Iddon has risen to the top of the times in a drying final free practice at Knockhill ahead of the returning Ryuichi Kiyonari and Shane Byrne.

The Tyco BMW rider made the most of the ideal conditions with the track drying throughout FP3 after earlier rain. Iddon's top time was still over two seconds off the best lap from Friday set by his team-mate Michael Laverty but with conditions uncertain for qualifying and the races pace in mixed conditions could be vital.

Kiyonari, returning to action after a broken collarbone suffered at Brands Hatch Indy in May, grabbed second ahead of four-time BSB champion Byrne with Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati's Danny Buchan grabbing fourth ahead of a Ducati trio as Glenn Irwin completed the top five.

Showdown contender Richard Cooper claimed sixth on his Buildbase BMW ahead of lead JG Speedfit Kawasaki duo James Ellison and Leon Haslam.

BSB debutant Jake Dixon enjoyed an impressive session by briefly topping the times before settling for ninth as Honda's Jason O'Halloran rounded out the top ten.

After a short but sharp rain shower doused the Knockhill circuit the BSB riders duly took care on the slippery surface which meant times failed to challenge the best laps from the dry Friday running.

With the sun poking through a dry line slowly emerged which kick-started the transition from wet to dry tyres. As a result a run of quicker times rattled through the middle chunk of the session which settled with Byrne leading from Kiyonari.

The threat of rain returned with five minutes remaining as drops were detected in all sectors, but it failed to stop fit-again Kiyonari trumping Byrne's top time before Iddon timed his run to the ideal conditions to hold top spot at the chequered flag.
