The Phones 4 u Ducati squad arrived at Mallory Park, for Sunday's penultimate round of the BSB championship, with rider Dean Thomas still struggling with his shoulder injury sustained in his high-speed crash at Thruxton.

"The shoulder is healing slowly, but to get it back to full strength it needs rest and obviously this isn't possible at the moment with all the rounds being so close together," explained Thomas. "I've been told I need to wear a brace to enable the dropped shoulder to be raised back up into it's normal position but this will have to wait until the season is over.

"The pain is now subsiding when I'm not racing but obviously racing puts added pressure onto the shoulder causing it to hurt, so after 3 days of racing it does hurt quite considerably," he added.

Superpole on Saturday was a disastrous experience for the team when first gear on the gearbox exploded at the start causing Thomas to be placed on the final row of the grid.

Race one saw Dean make a good start from his back row grid position and as the race progressed Thomas fought his way through the pack to finish in 12th position.

"I'm pleased with his finish with 28 riders out on the circuit Dean from 28th place managed to finish in 12th, he made good progress" maintained Team Manager Enzo DiClemente.

Race two commenced and the pain in Dean's shoulder was beginning to make its mark on his riding. Again another good start saw him claw his way through the pack into fourteenth position - where he finished the race. Another gallant ride through the pain barrier.
