Having secured a Showdown spot Jason O'Halloran says he's thrilled to claim his first double rostrum result of the season but feels he must push on for wins at Oulton Park to recharge his MCE British Superbike title aspirations.

The Honda Racing rider acted as a key contender against the top two in the title race Leon Haslam and Shane Byrne by taking third place in race one and second place in race two with controlled performances.

The results have seen him book his Showdown spot with a round to spare, putting an end to the frustrations of missing out last year through injury.

Despite being within range of potential wins in both races at Cadwell Park the Australian wasn't able to bridge the gap in each, while in the closer he suffered a heart-in-mouth moment at Barn corner which forced him to settle for second by defending impressively from a charging Byrne.

"It was a tough race two, once we got through the Safety Car period I got through to second behind Haslam and I know that he was controlling the pace," O'Halloran said. "I was looking at so many places to pass but I couldn't get him on the brakes.

"Then five or six laps to go he put the hammer down and I went to go with him but I made a massive mistake at Barn and had to defend from Shakey and hold second. It is fantastic though to get my first double podium of the year and I want to keep this momentum going and look to attack in the Showdown.

"I felt really comfortable in race one. I was happy with my third place as it another podium and it is fantastic to be back up there as I love Cadwell Park."
