Bike racing specialist ValMoto, run by Jack and Doris Valentine, has named Jim Moodie and Craig Jones as its riders for the 2003 season.

Moodie has a road racing career stretching back over 20 years that includes eight Isle of Man TT wins. When Jack Valentine announced his decision late last year to move away from producing one-off bikes for individuals, to concentrate on serious racing projects, Moodie had no doubts about joining ValMoto.

"I have been working with Jack for a long time and am totally committed to him," stated Jim. "When he stopped doing what he was doing before [V&M] and started ValMoto I made it clear from the beginning that whatever direction he decided to take I was 100 per cent with him. I'm delighted to be with ValMoto and I'm looking forward to the start of the season."

Moodie's team-mate Craig Jones has been described by as one of Britain's brightest young road racing prospects, and claimed the 2002 British Junior Superstock Championship. Jones has been racing bikes since he was 10-years-old and holds the same ambition now as he did then - to be a World Champion.

When asked about joining the ValMoto team and what his ambitions for 2003 were, Jones spoke of his delight at riding alongside one of his heroes.

"When I was small and friends with Jim's son Michael I was [always] looking up to Jim and he was on a Superbike," revealed Jones. "Now I'm alongside him on the same team and it's great. I don't want to start by saying I'm happy to come in at tenth - I want to be winning straight away with ValMoto. I think Jim might have something to say about that but I'm not going out there to come second!"

ValMoto retains all the technical expertise of V&M - including that of former partner Steve Mellor as Chief Engineer - and more. To this has been added facilities and features that are designed to provide a total racing service.

Valentine is expecting to make an announcement in the coming weeks about a major manufacturer that will be ValMoto's racing partner for the 2003 season. Until then the exact race series remains unclear, but a BSB campaign looks likely.

"I am delighted to be able to confirm that Jim and Craig will be riding for us this season and I'm looking forward to the prospect of enjoying a very successful year," declared Jack. "In the next few weeks I'll be revealing the name of the company that will provide us with the bikes... and I'm sure it will be a very exciting announcement."
