James Ellison feels if his McAMS Yamaha squad can improve its pace towards the end of races he can challenge for wins at a circuit he's starred at in recent MCE British Superbike seasons.

The British rider has secured three race wins, one second place and two third places since 2013 on the Indy configuration of the Brands Hatch circuit and having demonstrated his front-running potential at the 2017 season opener for McAMS Yamaha he is confident of hunting for the rostrum once again.

Ellison led the opening laps of the first race at Donington Park only to fade late on but he is certain if his team can make key gains on its race pace he feels wins are realistic on the team's second-ever race weekend in BSB.

"Donington Park was a bit disappointing on paper but at the same time it was really promising and showed the bike's potential," Ellison said. "We had a lack of dry track time before the start of the season and so we know with more miles under our belts the McAMS Yamaha will be unbelievable.

"Leading the race at Donington was a huge positive for me and it was only towards the end of the race, where there are a few areas we need to work on, that stopped us from finishing higher.

"The extra session on Friday will definitely help us too we want to be fighting for wins and those podium points this weekend because we didn't capitalise at Donington.

"Brands Hatch Indy seems to suit my style of riding so I can't see any reason why we can't be pushing for those wins this weekend."

BSB action gets underway on Friday afternoon at Brands Hatch with a test session before the three-day race weekend format begins on Saturday, with both races held on Easter Monday (17th April).
