Davide Giugliano will miss the second free practice session for round two of the 2017 MCE British Superbike championship after a heavy fall in the opening session on the Tyco BMW.

The Italian rider tipped off at Graham Hill Bend midway through FP1 which saw the session briefly red flagged in order to repair a broken crash barrier caused by the tumbling Tyco BMW S1000RR. Guigliano limped away from the incident but was taken to the medical centre as a precaution.

Under medical advice the former World Superbike star will miss FP2 due to swelling and bruising. He will assessed by the BSB medical team ahead of tomorrow's FP3 to see if he has recovered sufficiently.

Giugliano ended the session P19 with a best lap time of 46.277s, 1.2 seconds of pace-setter James Ellison on the McAMS Yamaha who broke the Brands Hatch Indy lap record in FP1.
