Red Bull today announced that Daniel Cooper will join the Red Bull Rookies, beginning his first race with the team at Oulton Park on 5th May.

The team was deeply saddened by the loss of Red Bull Rookie, Guy Farbrother, who had been with the team since the programme started in 2001.

It was a difficult decision to take on another Rookie at this early stage, but with such a strong infrastructure in place to support and develop riders, the team felt it would be appropriate to offer this opportunity to another promising young rider.

Cooper was one of the four finalists in this year's Red Bull Rookies search in Cartagena and will join Jay Rea and Midge Smart on the team.

Linda Pelham, Motorsports Manager at Red Bull commented, "Everyone in the Rookies' team is looking forward to Daniel joining. He proved his skills in Cartagena and his addition to the team will epitomise what the Rookies project is about - finding raw talent and refining it".

Cooper began the Mini-Moto British championship in 2001, but later decided to step up to Honda RS125 racing. In 2002 he became the NGRRC Junior 125 Champion, NGRRC Open 125 Champion and New Era Club Champion, gaining 5th place in the New Era Superclub. Last year, Daniel set a new circuit lap record for 125cc at Pembrey, South Wales. This will be his first full season racing in the National 125cc circuit.

Cooper was thrilled to be invited on the team commenting, "When I heard the news I was really pleased, now I just can't wait to get on the bike at Oulton Park for my first race with the Red Bull Rookies!"
