Honda Racing's Karl Harris claimed his fifth pole position of the 2003 Supersport season at Brands Hatch, the newly-crowned class champion posting a record lap time of 47.322secs to head a competitive session.

Harris, who has won six out of the last ten rounds of the championship - including three wins in the last four races - has already committed to riding for Honda Racing in next year's British Supersport Championship, and is looking forward to celebrating the deal by racing at one of his favourite circuits tomorrow.

"It's great to be on pole again, especially as I was struggling in this morning's qualifying session," he said, "Despite completing almost 30 laps, the best time I could manage was a 47.8 which, despite being well under lap record time, was only good enough for fourth.

"The team then did a great job in setting the bike up for the second session. We lowered the ride height and stiffened up the front, which helped me find more grip in the second half of the circuit and I was able to improve my times in this area. Not all of the riders improved their times in the second session, but I improved mine by over half a second - a significant amount at the Indy Circuit - so I'm feeling pretty confident for tomorrow's race."
