Jentin Racing Superbike rider James Ellison enjoyed a very positive weekend at Silverstone with two podiums in the British Superbike Cup together with points in both of the championship races.

Ellison finished second in the first Superbike Cup race and 12th overall, with a third in the second race and 15th overall that sees him now lying second in the Cup standings.

The Jentin team spent the first qualifying session experimenting with different Pirelli tyre compounds before settling on a race tyre in the second session and started the race from 22nd position on the grid.

Team manager Bernard Toleman said that James and the team had achieved everything they had set out to do.

"Our primary objective was to continue working on the set-up on the Yamaha R1 and look for a good finish in the Superbike Cup. We have been able to achieve that and pick up podium finishes in both races. The whole team are very pleased with the results and being second in the Cup has been an extra bonus."

Ellison reported that he was more than happy with the two podiums and to get into the top 15 outright for both races.

"The 04' Yamaha is obviously a very new bike so there is a lot we have to learn. After experimenting with various tyre compounds I was then able to concentrate on getting to terms with the R1 chassis and give the team as much feedback as I possibly could."

The focus for the team looking towards the next round at Brands Hatch is on further developments to both the chassis and the front brake system. These improvements will run alongside continuing development of the engine by Cheltenham based Race Techniques, with the first development evolution of the R1 power-unit expected shortly.
