Road racer Dean Harrison will make his MCE British Superbike debut this weekend at the triple-header Silverstone round with his Silicone Engineering Racing Kawasaki squad.

After prolific success on the roads in 2017 with a podium in the Isle of Man Senior TT plus victories at the Southern 100, Classic TT and Ulster Grand Prix the rostrums have led Harrison and the team to put together a concentrated effort into the final third of the BSB campaign and plan to compete at the final four rounds, starting this weekend at Silverstone.

Harrison says BSB has been a long-term target having had a taster in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 series and is determined to put on a decent showing on the Superbike.

“I am really excited about this opportunity as it is always something I have wanted to have a go at,” Harrison said. “I have done a few rounds in Superstock but this is going to be a big challenge for me, especially as I have never raced a Superbike before but there is always a first time for everything.

“We have had such a great season as a team and I have the best group of guys working with me, so I am really looking forward to getting started. I have to just take every session as it comes, but with the track time we have, it is going to be really beneficial to us and I feel we are ready for it.”

Team boss Paul Iddon says the four-round BSB entry came as an ideal opportunity to test both the Silicone Engineering Racing squad and Harrison in the short circuit environment.

“It has been a fantastic season so far for the team and this is the perfect opportunity for Dean,” Iddon said. “Everyone involved to gain more valuable experience because we want to keep improving. We are really focused on developing the Superbike and this will definitely give us the opportunity to keep moving forward.”
