Luke Mossey says he’s ready to return to action to fight for his place in the MCE British Superbike Showdown at the Silverstone decider this weekend.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider has missed the last four races through injury after sustaining a fractured vertebrae during FP3 at Thruxton last month. After undergoing weeks of treatment, physiotherapy and oxygen therapy to speed up his recovery Mossey is focusing on a comeback at the Silverstone triple-header.

Mossey will still need to pass a mandatory fitness test before FP1 at the Northamptonshire circuit to be given the green light to race this weekend, which his JG Speedfit Kawasaki squad expect to be a formality, as he looks to keep hold of his top six spot having slipped from second to sixth in the BSB standings during his absence.

“I'm really looking forward to getting back on the JG Speedfit Kawasaki at Silverstone this weekend. However, I'm not putting any pressure on myself – I just want to enjoy it,” Mossey said. “It's been a long time since I last competed in the championship but we had a good test last week and everything feels right again.

“Silverstone is one of my favourite circuits and we have three races so I can't wait to get back out there. Thanks to everyone for their continued support and backing me.”

Mossey holds a five-point advantage over nearest rival outside the BSB Showdown spots Jake Dixon (RAF Reserves Kawasaki) but is only six points off of fifth-placed rider Josh Brookes (Anvil Hire Yamaha).
