Haslam: I want Cadwell Park record back

Leon Haslam says he’s targeting wins and the Cadwell Park lap record this weekend having lost his long-standing record to Lee Jackson 12 months ago at the Lincolnshire circuit.

Last year Haslam lost his race lap record to Jackson who set a 1m 26.715s for Smiths Racing BMW which the Bennetts British Superbike championship leader is eager to regain having held it for a decade before Jackson’s feat.

Haslam, who can secure his top six Showdown spot one round early this weekend, is also a multiple BSB race winner at Cadwell Park with victory in last year's opener extending his career tally to seven triumphs which he’s also aiming to add to so he can strengthen his BSB championship advantage.

“Cadwell Park has been a really good circuit for me in the past,” Haslam said. “I did have the lap record there for 10 years, until I lost it last year, so I’m looking to get that back this year.

“I’ve won every single year I’ve been there and it’s one of my favourite tracks. I’m aiming for race wins and to get this lap record back.”

While Haslam holds a dominant 82-point lead in the BSB regular championship on nearest rival Jake Dixon, the Kawasaki rider will also look to defend his useful advantage of 23 points in the Podium Points standings at the Lincolnshire circuit.
