Dixon sized up his rival at Park corner but was squeezed on the inside under braking which forced him to run on to the grass, which also saw him lose second place to Bradley Ray, and while he described Haslam’s move as ‘naughty’ he is eager to move on at Silverstone after settling for a pair of third places at Cadwell Park.

“I’ll always have a go but I got pushed right to the grass and had to let off the brakes because I was just going to ram him,” Dixon said on his final lap fight with Haslam. “It was a little bit naughty but still it was a fantastic ride.

“Well done to Brad and Leon they both rode mega races and obviously thank you to my team as they’ve done a fantastic job. Good thing I stayed up, the motorcross came into it there.

“Obviously I am happy to secure myself a Showdown place as I can now just think about getting podium credits at Silverstone.”

Dixon is Haslam’s closest BSB title challenger in the standings but trails the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider by 31 Podium Points with only three races at Silverstone to go before the Showdown comes into play.
