Christian Iddon has seen his Bennetts British Superbike championship Showdown hopes effectively ended by a left collarbone fracture sustained during qualifying at Silverstone.

The Tyco BMW rider, who sits eighth in the BSB championship and 15 points off the top six spots, crashed out at Luffield midway through Q2 and was seen holding his arm walking away from the crash.

After being checked over at the medical centre it was confirmed the British rider had sustained a left collarbone fracture which will rule him out of the remainder of the three-race Showdown decider at Silverstone.

Only Leon Haslam and Jake Dixon have booked their spots in the BSB Showdown with the final four places still to be locked down.

Glenn Irwin, Josh Brookes, Bradley Ray and Peter Hickman currently hold those places with Hickman taking a slender seven-point gap on nearest challenger Danny Buchan for the opening race.

Hickman will start from 14th place for race with Buchan down in 22nd following his Q1 exit from qualifying.
