Tommy Bridewell turned in the quickest lap time in a rain-affected second free practice session for round eight of the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park as only 12 riders ventured out.

After a mostly dry FP1 session, a smattering of rain meant lap times would be well down in FP2 with Bridewell’s best effort of 1m 40.223s on the Oxford Racing Ducati some 13secs slower than the morning benchmarks.

That placed him more than two seconds ahead of FP1 pace setter Josh Brookes on the sister Ducati Panigale V4 R, with Ryan Vickers, Claudio Corti and David Allingham completing a top five covered by almost six seconds in total.

Championship leader Scott Redding, who was fourth quickest in FP1, did not venture out on track.

Weather forecasts suggest Saturday and Sunday will remain dry.
