Shane Byrne has recovered from his race one fall to secure his second win of the season in a masterful performance in the soaking wet conditions at Knockhill.

The Be Wiser Ducati rider disappointingly tumbled out of contention after a tricky start in race one but with conditions slipping to pouring rain and full wets Byrne charged from 11th on the grid to claim his 11th victory at the Scottish circuit.

Byrne spent the majority of the race battling Leon Haslam and Dan Linfoot but it was a perfectly-timed sprint by James Ellison which claimed the runner-up spot ahead of the Linfoot on the Honda Racing machine.

Haslam appeared to fade over the final third of the race, complaining of a foggy visor, to slip to sixth place behind JG Speedfit Kawasaki team-mate Peter Hickman in fourth and Jason O'Halloran in fifth.

Further back Richard Cooper headed the best of the rest with seventh place for Buildbase BMW ahead of Bennetts Suzuki's Tommy Bridewell and wet weather star Howie Mainwaring Smart as Christian Iddon rounded out the top ten for Tyco BMW, who also had visor problems.

John Hopkins looked a certain top ten contender again for ePayMe Yamaha but suffered a nasty high side off when he slipped on the soaking white lines.

The American rider wasn't the only one to be caught out by the conditions with Filip Backlund tumbling off, while Jakub Smrz was edged off track in the first-lap bundle.

Glenn Irwin had strong protests after being barged off at the hairpin by Ellison and remonstrated with the JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider after the chequered flag. No action was taken by race direction after it was judged as a racing incident.
