Mat Jackson will aim to build on his victory at Donington Park when the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads to Thruxton this weekend for the third round of the year.

Jackson took victory in the final race of the weekend at Donington to give the Airwaves Racing team a first success with its Ford Focus ST.

Going into the weekend just five points behind championship leader James Nash, Jackson will hope to try and hit the front and boost his challenge for honours.

"Obviously we're going to Thruxton off the back of a great win at Donington Park, so we're confident in the potential of the Ford Focus and have shown that it's capable of winning races," he said. "Thruxton will come down to tyre wear as it always does, but we know we have a good chassis that's kinder on the tyres and a great Mountune engine so we'll be looking for a strong result to push our Championship challenge further."

Team-mate Liam Griffin bounced back from his part in Jason Plato's dramatic race two accident to score his first BTCC points in the Donington finale, although he admitted it would be tough to repeat that at the high-speed Hampshire circuit.

"After a very positive finish at Donington, the expectation has gone down a touch for Thruxton," he said. "The fact that neither I or the car have run at the circuit this year makes it interesting to say the least and there are varying opinions about how the car will perform.

"That said, if any team can get the best out of this Focus it is the Airwaves Racing crew so with them behind us and a few bravery pills around the fastest circuit in the country we could do alright!"
