Ricky Collard is to join his father Rob on the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship package after inking a deal to compete in the supporting Formula Ford grid.

Collard, who will be returning to competitive action after a karting accident that left him hospitalised in Italy last year, will join Harrison Scott and Chris Mealin in the Falcon Motorsport line-up.

It will mark a full-time move into car racing for the kart racer, who previously competed in front of the BTCC crowds in a one-off Ginetta Junior race at Oulton Park.

"We have always dreamed of being able to race on the same package, so it's a massive thing for us and we are both really looking forward to being together at the circuits," Collard said of the chance to race on the same package as his dad, who remains with eBay Motors for the 2014 BTCC season.

"I am really grateful to have been taken on by Falcon. To drive in Formula Ford, especially with a team like Falcon, is a great honour. The experience that I will gain from driving the car will be massive, and so will working with Harrison; it has been really helpful during testing to discuss lines and set-up with him. It's great to have one of the championship favourites as your team-mate.

"It's been a long road back to full fitness for me - quite a hard process. But I am on top form now and am coming back even stronger so that I can give it my best shot."
