BMR Racing's Alain Menu leads an all VW one-two in a damp first BTCC session of the day at Snetterton as Jack Goff goes second on his maiden CC-machine run.

The former BTCC-champion was the only man to dip under the two minute bracket to set a 1 minute 59.701 second around the Norfolk circuit, putting him over half a second clear of his BMR team mate Goff.

Incidentally the four-car strong BMR squad will all run VW's for the first time this season as Goff and Scott scrap their Vauxhall program in favour of the running the CC-challenger.

It's the first time since 1988 where the multi-BTCC championship winning Vauxhall brand will be absent from the touring car grid.

BTCC rookie Tom Ingram was third in his Speedworks Toyota while defending champion Andrew Jordan was fourth despite ending his session early after his stricken Pirtek Honda brought out the red flags.

Gordon Shedden was the top factory Honda effort in fifth ahead of James Coles' United Autosports Avensis.

AmD Tuning's Dave Newsham completed the top seven ahead of Rob Austin, who also endured a premature end to his FP1 running.

Warren Scott was ninth, ensuring three VW's made it into the top ten on the first time of asking with Honda's Matt Neal ending the session in tenth.
