Following on from Josh Cook's inclusion in the top-ten of our 2015 British Touring Car Championship vote at the first time of asking, Tom Ingram slots in at eighth on the leader board - proving the BTCC's future looks to be in very safe hands.

The Speedworks Motorsport driver burst onto the BTCC scene in 2014 and while his pace evident, a string of ill-fortune denied Ingram the chance of achieving any breakthrough results. That theme seemed to continue this season despite boasting a reworked 2015-spec Toyota Avensis. On a number of occasions, Ingram's practice pace caused a stir but the results still went begging.

However, Ingram's perseverance was finally rewarded at Rockingham, in almost the grandest of circumstances. In a nail-biting duel with BTCC legend Jason Plato, Ingram eventually had to settle for second but his near race-long resistance against the might of Plato accrued unanimous respect from all corners of the paddock.

Having fought so long to achieve to just one podium, Ingram didn't have to wait long for another. Another second place finish during the final weekend at Brands Hatch helped the Speedworks racer secure his best championship result in 13th.

About the vote:
Rather than repeat the Drivers' British Championship standings, the BTCC Driver of the Year poll asks viewers to take into account factors such as machinery, performance relative to a team-mate, riding style, experience, injuries, progress and personality just as much as race results and scoring each of the top twenty from this year's BTCC standings with a mark out of ten.
