Team HARD is set to increase its operations in the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship after securing a third TOCA BTCC Licence.

Having recently signed up Jake Hill for a full BTCC campaign alongside rookie Chris Smiley, the Kent-based squad as secured backing to run a third Toyota Avensis in 2016 with its final driver expected to be announced on Wednesday morning.

Team principal Tony Gilham has explained the new signing will join the RCIB Insurance Racing squad with Hill as Smiley moves to race under a new team banner which will be announced in the coming weeks.

"With Jake Hill joining Chris Smiley, we already have one of the most exciting pairings of young talent in the series," Gilham said. "As soon as it became apparent that we were in a position to run a third car, we decided to again look to young talent to fill the seat.

"I really couldn't have asked for a better line-up and to be in a position to be able to support these young drivers in the BTCC thanks to our amazing sponsors is unbelievable."

The team now faces a race against time to prepare its three TOCA engine-powered Toyotas for the BTCC season launch at Donington Park on 22nd March.
