West Surrey Racing's Sam Tordoff shows his hand ahead of the opening British Touring Car Championship qualifying session of 2016 after setting the pace during FP2 at Brands Hatch.

As Tordoff did during the first session, the BMW 125i M Sport left his best effort until last and displaced Team BKR's Aron Smith from the top spot by almost a clear two-tenths ahead of the Irishman.

For a while it looked like Speedworks Motorsport's Tom Ingram would retain his top spot from the morning session when the Toyota Avensis once again shot to the top of the pile.

But Ingram ultimately had to give way to the hard charging Tordoff, while Smith also confirmed there's still a lot of speed left in the Volkswagen CC.

Reigning champion Gordon Shedden was another to improve during the final brace of laps and rose up to fourth as the WIX Racing Mercedes A-Class of Adam Morgan separated the two Honda Civic Type-R's in fifth, with Matt Neal in sixth.

BTCC debutant Ashley Sutton outpaced his Triple Eight Racing MG team mate Josh Cook for the second session as the pair sandwiched Motorbase Performance's Andrew Jordan in eighth.

Jordan's Ford Focus team mate Mat Jackson rounded out the top-ten, just over 0.5's off Tordoff's front-running time.

Further behind, Subaru continued to rack up an impressive level of mileage with all four Levorg's providing a combined total of 115 laps - led by Colin Turkington in 19th position.
