Ashley Sutton will not start from pole position for tomorrow's opening British Touring Car Championship race after being excluded from the qualifying result at Donington Park.

The Adrian Flux Subaru Racing driver set a sensational time during the 30-minute shootout to score what would have been his maiden pole position with the BMR outfit.

However, it has emerged that both Sutton and the sixth placed Volkswagen CC of Jake Hill have since been excluded from the result due to 'technical infringements'.

Sutton's exclusion comes after an 'overboost' issue with his Levorg while Hill's time was removed after the angle of his Volkswagen's rear wing was found to be 'outside of the permitted tolerance.

The decision has moved Handy Motorsport's Rob Austin into pole position with Eurotech Racing's Jack Goff joining the Toyota Avensis on the front row.
