BMW Pirtek Racing's Andrew Jordan has secured his third win of the 2017 British Touring Car Championship season after holding off an early onslaught from Adam Morgan at Rockingham.

The BMW driver led every single lap of the reverse grid encounter after starting from pole position, but came under severe pressure during the opening third of the race as his tyres gained temperature.

Right from the word go, Jordan had his mirrors full of the Mercedes of Morgan and the remainder of the chasing pack, who refused to let the race leading BMW out of their sight.

With Morgan latched onto the rear of Jordan's BMW 125i M Sport, the 2013 BTCC champion was forced to hug the inside line in order to keep an impatient Mercedes A-Class behind.

In turn, Morgan also had his mirrors full of Eurotech Racing's Jack Goff, while Jason Plato, Rob Collard and Tom Ingram remained in close proximity in fourth, fifth and sixth.

However, after successfully soaking up a huge torrent of pressure, the tide began to turn on lap six as Jordan began to establish clear air between himself and the chasing pack.

Subsequently, with Jordan and Morgan pulling away at the front of the field, Goff's position on the final step of the rostrum began to become under increasing danger with Plato and Collard beginning ramp up their attack on the Eurotech Honda.

Indeed, the battle between the trio came to a head when contact between Goff and Collard sent the latter's BMW into the wall, which handed Plato an open goal to secure his place on the podium.

Meanwhile, a late safety car - needed to retrieve Collard's damage stricken BMW - gave the chasing pack one final chance to deny Jordan the reverse grid win.

Having controlled the restart, Jordan ultimately prevailed ahead of Morgan and Plato, while Jack Goff and Ashley Sutton completed the top-five order ahead of Team BMW's Colin Turkington in sixth.

Vauxhall's Senna Proctor once again posted an impressive performance with a late surge to seventh, ahead of Tom Ingram and BTC Norlin Racing duo Chris Smiley and Dave Newsham.
