Rory Butcher has been handed a five-place grid penalty for race three following his incident with championship leader Colin Turkington during the second British Touring Car Championship race at Knockhill.

Butcher and Turkington tangled on the seventh lap of the race when the pair were battling for third position. Turkington had initially demoted Butcher down to fourth but the pair made contact at turn three [McIntyres], which sent the BMW into a spin and into the gravel.

As a result, Butcher went on to finish in third, while Turkington could only recover as high as 19th.

Butcher was set to start the reverse grid from eighth but will start down in 13th as a result of his five-place grid penalty.

Turkington will start in 19th and faces the prospect of losing his championship lead with his team mate and chief title rival Andrew Jordan starting from 10th, just four-points behind in the BTCC title race.
