Sheffield Pirtek Tigers went out of the Young Shield play-offs at the hands of Reading - despite a 56-41 home win.
The patched-up Owlerton side, minus the services of Sean Wilson, Andrew Moore and Andre Compton, had too much to do after losing the first leg by a massive 24-points on Monday.

But they gave it their best shot with guests Rory Schlein and Jason Bunyan performing admirably. Reading boss Ivan Shears was forced to make use of the tactical rule to
keep the determined Tigers at arms length. Danny Bird collected six-points in Heat 5 to get the scores back to 18-15 and Matej Zagar also collected a maximum return when nominated for double points in Heat 9.

When Bird and Zagar shared Heat 13 behind Ricky Ashworth the tie was beyond doubt but Sheffield had secured a win on the night against the Premier League's third-placed team.

Many of Sheffield's points were achieved from the back - Bunyan, Richard Hall, James Birkinshaw and Ben Wilson all did it the hard way - and the fans could have no complaints after a night of fine entertainment.
