While the F1 record book sees the 1979 French Grand Prix as the first win for Renault, a turbocharged car, and Jean-Pierre Jabouille, history remembers the race for one of the greatest track battles. Villeneuve and Arnoux tussled frantically over second place and touched cars on several occasions in the closing laps, with the Canadian driver coming out on top which led him to call it his ‘best memory of Grand Prix racing’.
