Daniel Ricciardo has been backed to make the move into F1 as he prepares to take part in the young driver test in Abu Dhabi following the final race of the year.

The Australian will drive for Red Bull during the test having held the role of test and reserve driver this year alongside his racing commitments in the Renault World Series.

The 21-year-old former British F3 title winner finished second to Russian driver Mikhail Aleshin in the World Series this season and Simon Abadi, the boss of Ricciardo's Tech 1 team, said he felt the youngster was ready to step up.

"We're all convinced that not only will he get into F1, but above all he'll win there," he was quoted by motorsport.com. "It couldn't be otherwise."

Ricciardo is expected to take up a drive in GP2 for the 2011 season.

Fellow Red Bull-backed driver Jean-Eric Vergne will also take part in the Abu Dhabi test with Toro Rosso.
