American Jonathan Summerton has said he hasn't given up on his dream of racing at the pinnacle of the sport.

Summerton had hoped to get a chance in F1 with the US-based Cypher Group, but that project failed to get off the ground when the people behind it withdrew their bid to secure a place on the F1 2011 grid last summer [see separate story - click here].

Despite that setback though, the 22-year-old, who has competed in Indy Lights for the last two years, remains hopeful he will still make it, even though he doesn't have anything at all confirmed yet for 2011.

"It's really all up in the air," he told the Austin American-Statesman newspaper. "I've been working to find a ride.

"My dream and goal has always been F1. I know I can do it. I've raced against seven of the current F1 drivers including [F1 2010 world champion Sebastian] Vettel.

"You never know what's going to happen. It's always a pressurised time. It can be stressful.

"The past two years I've signed a week prior to the first race. I have confidence things will come together."
