Red Bull Racing's Mark Webber did enough to edge out his team-mate, Sebastian Vettel today and grab pole for Sunday's F1 2011 Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya.

The Aussie was the only man to break the 1 minute 21 second bracket, his best lap a 1m 20.981s. That put him two tenths up on Sebastian Vettel, who prior to this weekend had started every race this year from pole.

Lewis Hamilton meanwhile was 'best of the rest' for McLaren, albeit more than eight tenths further back. Ferrari's Fernando Alonso put in a late run to split the McLaren's, just three thousandths off Hamilton and 0.032 seconds up on Jenson Button in fifth.

Renault's Vitaly Petrov will start sixth ahead of Nico Rosberg's Mercedes and Felipe Massa's Ferrari.

Pastor Maldonado was ninth for Williams with Michael Schumacher tenth, the latter having opted to not even set a lap.
