Peter Sauber has said he wishes Sergio Perez all the best in his move to McLaren, and insists he won't be rushed into a decision over who will replace the Mexican in 2013.

Perez will replace Lewis Hamilton at McLaren after the Brit elected to switch to Mercedes for the new season, with Perez inking a multi-year deal to partner Jenson Button.

It means Sauber has a vacancy in its driver line-up for the new campaign, although Kamui Kobayashi is also out of contract at the end of 2012 and had yet to sign a deal for next year.

Following his departure from Mercedes, Michael Schumacher is being mentioned as one option for Sauber, but the team boss said there was no rush to decide who will drive for his team next year.

"Sergio has been given the opportunity to drive for McLaren, one of the most successful teams in the history of Formula One," he said. "We wish him all the best for this move.

"Before he leaves, there are still six races to come in which we will give Sergio our utmost support with the aim of gaining as many points as possible.

"As to our drivers for 2013, we will announce them in due course."
