After the fractured approach to the development of young talent last season, the F1 teams have reportedly reached a consensus when it comes to a single test session in 2013.

Despite there only being a dozen teams in the top flight, there were no fewer than three 'young driver' tests in 2012, taking place at Silverstone, Magny-Cours and Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi respectively, as the various factions failed to agree on a single time and venue. Realising the impracticality of a repeat, however, they appear to have settled for one session, to be held at Silverstone in the middle of the year.

Despite Abu Dhabi having established itself as the venue for previous 'young driver' tests, the addition of Austin between its grand prix and the cementing of the season finale in Brazil, trying to squeeze in a three-day test has become tricky, prompting the decision to switch to a more suitable slot in the calendar, even if the weather will not be as predictable in the UK.

According to Germany's Auto Motor und Sport magazine, the test will take place at Silverstone in mid-July, filling the three-week gap between the races in Germany and Hungary opened up to host a possible replacement for the abandoned race in New Jersey.
