Kimi Raikkonen was maintaining his typically taciturn demeanour ahead of qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix, saying it isn't worth reading into the lap times until qualifying.

Mercedes produced a truly dominant performance in both free practice sessions, commanding a 1.8secs advantage in FP1 and a 1.2secs margin in FP2, with Nico Rosberg setting the pace on both occasions.

A frustrating day for Ferrari as Sebastian Vettel lost time with an issue late on in FP2, Raikkonen was fifth quickest, 1.4secs adrift of the top spot. However, the Finn was refusing to read much into today's results and was not interested in what Mercedes had produced.

"I haven't really look at what the others were doing, we did our own stuff and we need to go through everything to see how it went. We had a normal day and we did what we had planned.

"We do our own stuff but you guys are always looking at the lap times and you can choose whatever you want. We ran as we had planned and now we have to go through everything and see how it was. It worked pretty OK, we did plenty of laps and it wasn't too bad. The lap times are one thing but we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

"We always try to do the best we can but where we're going to end up on Sunday I don't know. Hopefully we'll have a good, solid day tomorrow and then go from there."
