Kimi Raikkonen was quickest in second free practice for the Chinese Grand Prix, 0.109s up on Sebastian Vettel in the sister Ferrari, as the Scuderia showed promising, possibly even Mercedes beating pace.

After an eventful first session this morning at the Shanghai International Circuit, FP2 was smoother running with no red flags and no more tyre failures. Raikkonen finished up as the only runner to break the 1min 37secs bracket when he clocked a 1min 36.896sec midway through.

Meanwhile, Vettel was slightly slower in second, while Nico Rosberg led the Mercedes charge, 0.237secs off Raikkonen and 0.196secs up on Lewis Hamilton, although both posted their supersoft times earlier when conditions weren't quite so good.

Daniel Ricciardo was fifth for Red Bull, albeit over a second off the Ferraris and 0.814secs adrift of Hamilton, followed by Toro Rosso's Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz in sixth and eighth, sandwiching Nico Hulkenberg's Force India.

Sergio Perez took ninth in his Force India, from Williams' Valtteri Bottas and the McLaren Honda's of Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button. Daniil Kvyat, Felipe Massa and Jolyon Palmer completed the top-15.

Kevin Magnussen was unable to run in his Renault after suffering that tyre failure in the morning, while Esteban Gutierrez did get out in his Haas, but only did a few laps before a rear brake fire sidelined him again, leaving him at the bottom of the timesheets.
