Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are both out of the Spanish Grand Prix after clashing spectacularly on the opening lap.

Hamilton had started on pole position but Rosberg would get ahead around the outside of turn one, prompting Hamilton to attempt a response by attacking on the run to turn four.

However, Rosberg would defend hard to the inside, forcing Hamilton onto the grass, where he would lose control and spin, collecting Rosberg in the process.

Though the pair have come into contact before, it the first time they have eliminated one another. It marks Mercedes' first double DNF since the 2011 Australian Grand Prix.

At the end of the opening lap, Daniel Ricciardo leads Max Verstappen from Carlos Sainz.
