Max Verstappen is confident Red Bull can take his winning momentum to Monaco as it's a circuit which suits the strengths of the RB12.

The youngest-ever F1 race winner has adapted to Red Bull with immediate success since replacing Daniil Kvyat at the top team and demonstrated his outstanding abilities with victory on debut at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Red Bull, traditionally a strong package on chassis-dependent tracks like Spain and Monaco, is optimistic he can enjoy another successful outing at the principality but wants to reserve his full judgement until turning laps in the Red Bull around the iconic street track.

"For me, I think this track [Circuit de Catalunya] in general with this car suits us a bit better but still you want more and more power and soon I think we will get some more power, so that's very positive," Verstappen said. "I think a street circuit will be even better for us, but let's wait and see. We have to wait until we have driven there."

Verstappen returns to track action on day two of the first in-season F1 test in Spain on Wednesday and says as well as running the team's development programme he is keen to feel at home in the cockpit of the RB12.

"I'm still learning the car," he said. "Before I got into the car, I didn't even have a hole for my drink tube. I still had to make it. We'll see. I think our car will be good on a street circuit so I'm definitely looking forward to that and it will be a great feeling to start there in FP1 that's for sure."
