Max Verstappen says he's enjoyed spending time adapting to the Red Bull in a test environment after his historic Spanish Grand Prix victory.

The Dutch star picked up from where he left off by topping the second day of the first in-season test at Circuit de Catalunya just three days after becoming the youngest ever F1 Grand Prix winner.

While running a full testing programme on the RB12, the 18-year-old gained valuable race seat time to become familiar with his new surroundings having been prompted to the Red Bull squad just a week before the Spanish Grand Prix.

"It was very good I enjoyed it today from the first lap and a very good day for me I could test a lot of stuff and for myself I could get used to the car so I'm very happy," Verstappen said. "We tested a lot of things but it looks all very positive."

Verstappen's next opportunity in the Red Bull will be in opening practice session ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix and he is relishing the opportunity of demonstrating the car's potential at the circuit which relies heavily on the chassis.

"If your car is good on a street circuit you prefer a street circuit," he said. "I think Monaco is always something special with the atmosphere and when you are pushing it to the limit in qualifying it gives you a great feeling."
