Sergio Perez has reiterated he isn't giving too much attention to rumours regarding his future having been primed as a potential candidate to join Ferrari next season following a run of impressive results.

The Mexican has catapulted up the Formula 1 World Championship standings in the wake of podiums in two of the last three races in Monaco and Azerbaijan, his performance at the latter event particularly catching the eye after also qualifying second (albeit starting seventh because of a penalty).

Though Force India has suggested it is keen to retain its man for a fourth straight season, Perez has been mentioned in context with a swoop from Ferrari as a potential replacement for Kimi Raikkonen, whose future beyond his current deal remains uncertain.

With this in mind, Perez admits it is flattering to be linked with a top team again particularly after his torrid single season with McLaren in 2013, but feels there is no rush to put pen to paper on a new deal.

"I'm focusing on my job to give my best to my team. I've said before that I'm happy at Force India, but for the future who knows what will happen? We're still in the early part of the year to make any decision for later in the year. I have good people behind me, my manager Julian, that's his job - to look what's best for my future.

"It's a good feeling once again, out of whatever happened it's always good to feel proud that your name is around other teams and other teams can look at your performance. In 2012 it was a great year and there were a lot of rumours back then, but then my time at McLaren - obviously I left the Ferrari Academy at that time, going into McLaren and then it was a very difficult period and after that everything seemed to be lost. Who knows now you know?

"I really am here to be a World Champion and to fight for that and if I ever get the chance it would be great, but if not all I can do is enjoy the moment and that's what I'm doing."

A possible Perez deal could be sweetened by Ferrari's relationship with Mexican businessman Carlos Slim, whose Claro and Telmex brands feature on the car and contributed to Esteban Gutierrez being signed as test and reserve driver in 2015.
