Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing has unveiled its highly-anticipated collaboration effort, the AM-RB 001 hypercar, which is co-designed by Adrian Newey, Marek Reichman and David King.

After the two prestigious brands announced a new partnership at the end of 2015 legendary designer Newey was handed 'a childhood dream' to create an all-new road car which was officially unveiled in the build up to the British Grand Prix this weekend.

Newey, working with Aston Martin EVP and Chief Creative Officer Reichman and vice president and chief special operations officer King, the trio have created a naturally aspirated V12 with a carbon fibre body.

The full specification of the car is yet to be announced, but is touted to have a power to weight ratio of 1:1 and is predicted to challenge the performance capabilities of the current LMP1 machines in the World Endurance Championship.

"I've long harboured the desire to design a road car," Newey said. "The formation of Red Bull Advanced Technologies brought me a step closer to realising that ambition, but I believed we should work with an automotive manufacturer. Aston Martin was at the top of my list,

"I've always been adamant that the AM-RB 001 should be a true road car that's also capable of extreme performance on track, and this means it really has to be a car of two characters.

"That's the secret we're trying to put into this car - the technology that allows it to be docile and comfortable, but with immense outright capabilities."

Horner has hailed the concept as a 'pioneering' steer and sees it as the best of Formula 1 technologies meeting road cars.

"Red Bull Racing has always steered an innovative course in our ongoing development of a competitive Formula One car," Horner said. "The conception and modus operandi of Red Bull Technologies has been to apply our expertise to truly progressive projects and partnerships.

"Our relationship with Aston Martin and the realisation of the AM-RB 001 is pioneering and borne of our synergies and desire to break new ground. The AM-RB 001 is the inspirational product of this collaborative spirit."

"To have Aston Martin working alongside Adrian Newey, Red Bull Racing and the invaluable assistance of project partner AF Racing AG is an extraordinary creative collaboration," Aston Martin President and CEO Andy Palmer said.

"As the project gathers pace its clear the end result will be a truly history-making hypercar that sets incredible new benchmarks for packaging, efficiency and performance and an achievement that elevates Aston Martin to the very highest level."
