Zak Brown has been appointed the new Executive Director of the McLaren Technology Group as the British firm begins the first stages of restructuring in the wake of Ron Dennis' exit last week.

The 45 year-old American - who was reportedly being touted for a senior role with new F1 owners Liberty Media - will play an integral part in replacing Dennis, whose 36 year tenure within the company came to an abrupt end last week when he was on gardening leave by fellow shareholders.

As it stands, Dennis remains Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until January when his gardening leave expires before Brown steps into his role to jointly lead businesses alongside Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Neale.

The process of identifying and recruiting a new Group Chief Executive Officer will continue.
