Three-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton remains Britain's richest sportsman, according to the annual Rich List published by The Sunday Times.

Hamilton secured a lucrative contract upon joining Mercedes in 2013, with whom he has claimed two world titles, and remains one of the most high-profile drivers in F1.

Hamilton has been Britain's richest sportsman every year since 2014, and will once again be listed first when the full rich list is published on Sunday.

Hamilton's wealth has reportedly increased by ?25 million in the past 12 months, giving him an overall total of ?131m.

The Mercedes driver is ?21m clear of footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic in second, who is a new entry to the list after joining Manchester United last summer. His team-mate Wayne Rooney sits third.

Recent F1 driver Jenson Button sits fourth on the list on ?86m, having added ?9m to his fortune in the past 12 months. Button semi-retired from F1 at the end of last year, but will make a one-off appearance in Monaco later this month.
