Kevin Magnussen feels that Silverstone has been the most challenging high-speed track Formula 1 has ventured to so far with its new-style cars, much to his excitement.

Following an overhaul of the technical regulations for 2017, the new cars have offered drivers significantly more downforce, allowing them to carry more speed through corners and reduce lap times.

Silverstone is one of the fastest tracks on the calendar, making the first sessions for the drivers on Friday particularly important as they pushed the limits of what the new cars are capable of.

"It's definitely the track that has been the most challenging in terms of high-speed corners so far this season," Magnussen said after practice on Friday.

"I'm really enjoying it. The amount of grip in the high-speed corners, the speed we carry through Maggots and Becketts, it's really high speed, and very, very high grip.

"It's really enjoyable. It's really challenging to get to the limit of the car in the high-speed, and that's what we want."

When asked by Crash.net if it separated the men from the boys in F1, Magnussen said: "Yeah maybe - but it shows that most of the guys here are men."
