Zandvoort received another boost in its attempt to bring grand prix racing back to Holland when it received the backing of both the local population and the government.

The seaside circuit was recently awarded the T1 licence it requires for F1 test sessions to be held within its boundaries, and the support of both local and national bodies will move it another step closer to being able to host full race meetings.

Further modifications will be carried out to modernise the partially-revamped Zandvoort facility over the winter, although the first F1 demonstrations on the new circuit are likely to happen this year.
