Minor changes have been made to the Formula One schedule for the United States Grand Prix in order to accommodate worldwide television viewers, it has been revealed.

As a result of trying to fit in with European television schedules, Saturday's free practice sessions will now take place from 0800-0845hrs and 0915-1000hrs, a full hour earlier than previously scheduled. The qualifying warm-up will take place from 1230-1245hrs, with the second single-lap qualifying session between 1300-1400hrs, again both an hour earlier than previously scheduled.

"Worldwide attention on this fascinating and exciting Formula One season continues to grow, and all eyes will be focused on Indianapolis during the United States Grand Prix weekend," said Joie Chitwood, senior vice-president of business affairs for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, "Because of the strong interest in this event and the F1 title chase, the FIA has made slight changes to the Saturday schedule so qualifying can be broadcast in prime time throughout Europe.

"It was important to us not to make a change to the schedule that would have a negative impact on the fans attending the event, but these changes are minimal enough that it should be a win-win for everyone."

The race day schedule remains unchanged, with the fourth USGP to be staged at Indianapolis starting at 1300hrs on Sunday, although slight changes were also made to the Porsche Supercup schedule for Friday and Saturday.

With the title on the line for three drivers - much as it is in F1 - a free practice session has been added between 1530-1600hrs on Friday, with the first qualifying session moving to 1700hrs. On Saturday, the second qualifying session has moved to 1115hrs, with the first of two races moving to 1500hrs. The second race will start at 1040hrs on Sunday, as previously scheduled.
