BMW WilliamsF1 driver Ralf Schumacher set the pace today [Wednesday] at Jerez, as the Grove based concern commenced a four-day test.

Ralf completed 63 laps in total, his best a 1 minute 21.230 seconds, while team-mate Marc Gene notched up 13.

Tim Newton, test team manager for WilliamsF1, told the team's official website: "Ralf and Marc undertook testing responsibilities at Jerez circuit today with both drivers concentrating on set up work of the FW25 and tyre testing for the final race of the season at Suzuka.

"With heavy downpours continuing until lunchtime, we managed to carry out some useful wet weather running this morning as well as getting some dry laps in this afternoon."

Toyota's Ryan Briscoe was the only other runner on track, the Euro F3 competitor completed 90 laps in the TF103, his best a 1m 22.367s. Briscoe was also on track yesterday, however owing to poor weather conditions his running was severely limited.

Testing continues tomorrow [Thursday].
