West McLaren-Mercedes 'third' driver Alexander Wurz set the pace today [Friday] at Valencia, as running at the Spanish circuit drew to a close.

Only four drivers were in action, as McLaren, Renault, Williams and Toyota conducted wet weather running for Michelin on an artificially watered track - the French tyre manufacturer seeking to compile as much data as possible, to cut the performance gap to arch rival Bridgestone, a gap most recently illustrated at the US Grand Prix, at the end of September.

Over 350 laps were completed in total, with Wurz, Franck Montagny and Marc Gene all within two tenths of a second. Ryan Briscoe meanwhile was a further half a second or so off the pace in the Toyota TF103.

Testing will now resume next week.
