Ralph Firman's hopes of staying with Jordan Ford in 2004 have been boosted following news that he will test with the team this week at Jerez.

In a statement posted on the Jordan team's official website, the team revealed that the Brit, who raced for the Silverstone-based squad in 2003, will get back behind the wheel of the EJ13 this Friday.

Firman, who drove the car during demonstrations runs at the Macau Grand Prix, told www.f1jordan.com: "My only previous experience of the Jerez track came in the mid-1990s, when I briefly tested the McLaren as a result of winning the McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award.

"The battle for race drives in Formula One has never been tougher, but I am determined to do everything I can to help the team and earn my place in the line up next season."

Firman will join Nick Heidfeld and Jaroslav Janis, who will both be in action for Eddie Jordan's team during its three-day test at the Spanish venue.
