Having completed the final test session before Toyota's new F1 challenger is launched, lead driver Olivier Panis has spoken of his excitement at the new machine - which he is expecting much from.

The Frenchman, together with team-mate Cristiano da Matta and test driver Ricardo Zonta, completed three days of running at Jerez yesterday (Friday), driving development versions of last season's challenger.

"We worked on the reliability of the TF103B car for the first two days and managed over 130 laps, which is really quite encouraging. (On Friday) I switched to the 103 car and did some long runs to evaluate tyres with Michelin and everything went well," said Olivier of his testing efforts.

But the machine Panis really wants to drive is still at the team's base in Germany, where final preparations are being made before it is officially shown to the world.

"I am excited that our new TF104 car is being launched next week, and confident that it will be a big step forward," the one-time GP winner stated.

Toyota will launch the TF104 in Cologne.
