Toyota's Ricardo Zonta set the pace today [Tuesday] at Jerez, Spain, as the Cologne based squad began preparations for the German Grand Prix in two weeks time, when the new TF104B will make its debut.

The Brazilian completed 94 laps in total, his best a 1 minute 18.595 seconds, fractionally quicker than Rubens Barrichello, who was next best for Ferrari.

Cristiano da Matta was also on track for Toyota, the Brazilian completing 46 laps, his quickest around six tenths off the pace.

Barrichello worked on tyre testing and a set-up programme, while test driver, Luca Badoer ran solo at Monza, in Italy, where he completed a total of 51 laps, with a best time of 1m 22.438s. The Italian also worked on tyre testing, as well as focusing on aerodynamics.

McLaren test duo, Pedro de la Rosa and Alex Wurz were the only other runners on track in Jerez, as the Woking based team continue to develop the MP4-19B, which shone at the British GP in the hands of Kimi Raikkonen, the Finn taking pole and eventually finishing second in the race.

Testing continues tomorrow [Wednesday], when more teams are expected to join proceedings, including Williams, BAR-Honda and Renault.
